What is Fitrana?
فطرانہ کیا ہے؟
Fitrana, also known as Zakat al-Fitr, is a mandatory charity that every Muslim must give at the end of Ramadan before the Eid prayer. It is meant to purify the fasts of the believer and to help the poor and needy so they can also celebrate Eid with joy.
فطرانہ، جسے زکاة الفطر بھی کہا جاتا ہے، ہر مسلمان پر رمضان کے اختتام پر عید کی نماز سے پہلے ادا کرنا واجب ہے۔ اس کا مقصد روزے دار کے روزوں کو پاکیزہ کرنا اور غریب و مسکین افراد کی مدد کرنا ہے تاکہ وہ بھی خوشی کے ساتھ عید منا سکیں۔
The Importance of Fitrana
فطرانے کی اہمیت
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ made Fitrana obligatory on every Muslim, whether male or female, young or old, free or slave. It ensures that everyone in the community can share in the happiness of Eid.
رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ہر مسلمان پر فطرانہ فرض قرار دیا ہے، خواہ وہ مرد ہو یا عورت، چھوٹا ہو یا بڑا، آزاد ہو یا غلام۔ اس کی ادائیگی سے پوری امت میں خوشیوں کا حصہ سب کو ملتا ہے۔

فطرانے کی مقدار
The amount of Fitrana is equal to one Sa‘ (صاع) of staple food such as wheat, dates, barley, raisins, or their equivalent value in money. According to scholars, today people mostly give the monetary value which is announced by Islamic scholars every Ramadan.
فطرانے کی مقدار ایک صاع کھجور، جو، کشمش یا گندم وغیرہ ہے۔ موجودہ دور میں عام طور پر اس کی رقم علماء کرام رمضان کے دوران اعلان کر دیتے ہیں اور لوگ زیادہ تر نقدی کی صورت میں ادا کرتے ہیں۔
Who Must Pay Fitrana?
فطرانہ کن پر واجب ہے؟
Fitrana is obligatory on every Muslim who possesses the minimum amount of wealth (Nisab) on the eve of Eid. A guardian must also pay Fitrana on behalf of his children and dependents.
ہر وہ مسلمان جس کے پاس عید کی رات نصاب کے برابر مال ہو، اس پر فطرانہ واجب ہے۔ والدین پر لازم ہے کہ وہ اپنے بچوں اور زیر کفالت افراد کی طرف سے بھی فطرانہ ادا کریں۔
When Should Fitrana Be Paid?
فطرانہ کب ادا کرنا چاہیے؟
Fitrana must be paid before the Eid prayer. It is best to give it a few days earlier so that the poor can prepare for Eid in time. Delaying it after the Eid prayer is considered disliked (makruh).
فطرانہ عید کی نماز سے پہلے ادا کرنا واجب ہے۔ بہتر یہ ہے کہ اسے عید سے ایک یا دو دن پہلے ادا کیا جائے تاکہ مستحقین وقت پر عید کی تیاری کر سکیں۔ نماز عید کے بعد ادا کرنا مکروہ ہے۔
